Partner yoga poses for beginners
New pairs should start with the first six. They need no special strength and teach the key skill of partner yoga: moving together. These easy yoga poses for 2 friends are also ideal for a bff 2 person yoga poses challenge, since they look good and are safe.
For 2 person partner yoga poses, take turns leading: one partner chooses the pose and counts the breaths, the other follows, then swap.
Acro yoga poses: rules before you fly
- Learn from a teacher, at least for the first sessions.
- Always have a third person as a spotter.
- Practise on a thick soft surface, never on hard floor or a bed.
- Agree on a stop word; either partner can end the pose instantly.
- The base keeps bones stacked: straight legs and arms under the load.
- Skip acro yoga with back, neck, wrist or shoulder injuries, high blood pressure or in pregnancy.
Group yoga poses for 3 to 10 people
Group yoga poses for 10 work well at parties and team days. Try a circle of tree poses holding shoulders, a train of seated forward folds where each person holds the back of the person in front, or a star of people lying on their backs with heads in the middle for a group shavasana. Difficult group yoga poses like human pyramids belong in supervised acro classes only.
Yoga challenge tips
For a couple yoga challenge, pick three poses from easy to medium, practise each a few times before filming, and keep a cushion nearby. Loosen up together beforehand: a minute of spinal waves on all fours and two sun salutations side by side. A good duo yoga pose looks effortless because both people are steady, not because it is extreme.
Benefits of couple yoga
Partner work can deepen stretches safely, improve balance through shared support, and build communication and trust. Many couples simply enjoy a shared, screen free activity. Pair it with solo practice from the beginner guide so both partners build their own strength too.
Practise on an empty stomach, move slowly into each position and stop at any sharp pain. If you have an injury, a health condition or are pregnant, check with a doctor or an experienced teacher first.
